Horse Shampoo
BREAKS THE CYCLE: Our Horse Shampoo doesn’t strip skin down to a vulnerable state like other chemical laden shampoos. By gently cleansing with ONLY beneficial ingredients, skin is left with nourishing and natural skin oils still intact, leaving skin supple and the coat soft and shiny making dull coats and dry skin a thing of the past. Finally, a shampoo that is soothing, moisturizing and healing.
Directions
Daily Preventative Powder
Sprinkle powder directly onto desired area, massaging it in a circular motion down to the skin.
If using as a remedy, leave on continuously, applying more as it wears off until completely healed.
In hard-to-reach areas, such as legs or under belly, pour powder into palm of hand and place directly onto desired area down to skin.
If using as a preventative or under equipment, apply generously and massage down to the skin and leave on.
For dark horses: In very rare instances, regular use of COAT DEFENSE® daily PREVENTATIVE POWDER may lighten the coat. We believe it has to do with the chemistry of a horse’s sweat and/or sunlight exposure mixed with the ingredients in our formula. If this concerns you, please use at your own risk.
Trouble Spot Drying Paste
Prior to application, gently clean any dirt or debris from treatment area. DO NOT pick off any existing scabs. Allow scabs to fall off on their own with Paste.
Using fingertips, scoop paste from container and spread thickly over treatment area. Spread as if covering bread with peanut butter, spread to surrounding areas and down to the skin. Do not rub in.
Let paste dry to a near white shell and leave on for several days.
Reapply as necessary until skin is fully healed.
For open wounds, to achieve better adhesion of the paste, first dry oozing by patting with a clean cloth and/or applying COAT DEFENSE® daily Preventative Powder.
Paste is also effective if thinned out with water or witch hazel. A more paint like layer of the paste provides an effective barrier between exposed skin (ears, bellies, etc.) and biting insects.
To remove, please wet first. Paste become abrasive when it is dry.
Use COAT DEFENSE® daily Preventative Powder to prevent future flare-ups. It’s a game changer for prevention!
For dark horses: In very rare instances, regular use of COAT DEFENSE® TROUBLE SPOT DRYING PASTE may magnify the lightening effect of the sunlight and sweat. For our peace of mind, please test in a small area first.

So far I've used the drying clay on my horse. It's works really well. She has stopped rubbing her tail so I'm sold on this product.

I used the shampoo today. My question is, how to use it that it is most effective?
The directions on the bottle said mix with water. Then a Facebook video, your ad, showed the person applying with her hand. I applied with my hand and massaged it into Sue’s hair coat.
I then applied the powder.
I guess my favorite of the three would be the paste.

Sadly it's not helping with the itch but the mud stuff helps with the crud on his belly.

I was stung by a wasp on the top of my right hand. It was a rough day, I was stuck at the barn, and all I could remember was all the amazing reviews about the paste relieving bites, stings and sores on humans too. I put a big ole dab of paste on my hand and it stayed on for over an hour. I could feel the sting but it wasn't intolerable and there wasn't the anticipated swelling. When I got back to the house I had to wash my hands, which I didn't want to do. Within 10 minutes my hand was swollen and red and itched horribly. I wish I hadn't washed the paste off because it really kept my hand very comfortable. This paste is amazing and I will use it on ME more often!

So your reading the reviews wondering if you should spend the money on coat defense. The answer is YES! I have used coat defense amazing products for the last three years. It has cleared up my horses summer sores. Helped with itchy bug bites they get living in Florida. It has cleared up any rain rot they get from our rainy season. It’s great at preventing chafing of girths. The powder helps dry up sweat after riding. Even the shampoo helps with itchy skin.

I used the powder on my young Rocky Mountain horse and my Quarter Horse for rain rot, I was thrilled with how fast the product worked, and of course my young rocky has a spot on his forehead from rubbing and I used the paste and it stayed put and healed up quickly! Great product! I will definitely buy again!!

My friend has a horse who developed a summer sore in July, and we treated it with Ivermectin cream for three months with no improvement. It kept getting worse! It got to the point that the Ivermectin would no longer even stick to the wound. We use Coat Defense where I volunteer, and the adds kept popping up for me on Facebook... because algorithms (in this case, grace!)!
I asked my friend if she'd be okay with trying it, and she was. I messaged Coat Defense to ask if it's safe to use near the mouth, and they said it would be fine... so a few days later, armed with the Sweet Itch Bundle, we declared war on the summer sore!
Prior to the first application of Coat Defense, we could smell the horse long before we saw him. To say it was bad is an understatement. The night after the first application, my friend went out to the barn, and she said the odor was gone! Granted, so was the Coat Defense because hay makes a wonderful scaper, lol. We applied the Coat Defense powder first and let it be absorbed (applied as much as was needed) and then applied the paste. We did not pick any skin or scabs but did try to get out any hay or debris prior to application.
A month later, and we are almost healed! My friend and I were both out of town for a week, and the sore grew while we were gone (no one was applying the paste regularly for us), so the we're attributing the healing to the Coat Defense (we started applying again today).
Sorry/not sorry for the graphic picture, but if a picture is worth 1000 words... these are worth much more than what I've written here!
(I was not paid for this review, and I would 100% recommend this product to anyone! I use the shampoo on me, lol, but will try it on the horses when I have a day to bathe them)

My older gelding gets terrible skin ick during the rainy summer months. This product (when applied regularly) really takes care of the problem. His hair grows back and he doesn't seem so itchy.
