Directions
Sprinkle powder directly onto desired area, massaging it in a circular motion down to the skin.
If using as a remedy, leave on continuously, applying more as it wears off until completely healed.
In hard-to-reach areas, such as legs or under belly, pour powder into palm of hand and place directly onto desired area down to skin.
If using as a preventative or under equipment, apply generously and massage down to the skin and leave on.
For dark horses: In very rare instances, regular use of COAT DEFENSE® daily PREVENTATIVE POWDER may lighten the coat. We believe it has to do with the chemistry of a horse’s sweat and/or sunlight exposure mixed with the ingredients in our formula. If this concerns you, please use at your own risk.
For MONTHS I tried to treat my horses coat from itchy, flaky, and eventually hot spot like areas on her body. Of course all in the midst of a harsh northern Michigan winter. We bought this mare and she had rainrot on her hips and bad skin on her back. This stuff is amazing. Her hair is coming back and the rough stuff is gone.
My new horse lost a bunch of fur at the beginning of spring. I immediately bought the horse bundle. His skin and fur are back to normal, due to daily use of the preventative powder ! I use the field coat on his pink nose, and have used the paste on some small scrapes. It really works wonders ! Worth every cent, and I would highly recommend it !
The powder is great. My 27yo is loosing her fur, balding. Thinking it’s some kind of fungus. After her bath, sprinkled the powder on the affected areas her coat is slowly coming in. Thank you for a great product

I been using it on my donkeys face which had been bare and now hair growing back in and also using it on one of my friends horses top of his tail that has no hair and is now growing hair back. Makes their areas look so much better especially my Donkey. Love your product.
Coat Defense is one of the best products for coats, both for dogs and horses. It is easy to apply and works good to help with a variety of issues. Introduced to it by a video and product give away through Valley Vet years ago and have been using it since. It's expensive so I buy the big bag and refill my applicators. I have introduced/shared with friends and family because they wanted to try before making the investment in the product. Good stuff.
I love this product and have been using it for years. I apply as a preventative during the spring season especially to help avoid rain rot on my mare’s top line and legs as they shed out.
Also a great grooming tool after grooming them! Definitely recommend!
I love having this on hand for the horses that are always itchy. I’ve been hoping for a soothing product that didn’t make a mess, they get quiet after I work this powder in. I love the smell…it even smells soothing. I’m super glad to have it. I’m going to try it on myself….my daughter thinks it would work as a dry shampoo if applied the night before…. I think so too.
Easy to apply. Need to find out if it is OK to apply when legs are wet. I usually ride when I see my horse so I would like to put it on after I bath her. Not certain that is a good thing to do.
A dear friend of mind gave me a shaker bottle of this product and I began using it on chronic pastern dermatitis in my horse. I had tried multiple remedies and had some success but Coat Defense knocked it out. I continue to use it daily on her pasterns and girth area to keep the annoying problems under control. I’m fighting scratches and
rubbing his tail.
The scratches are hardy and stubborn.
His tail appears to be better.
I have also used this on his “love bits” from his field buddies. The hair seems to be growing in nicely.
Has really helped my 28 year old Oldenburg who has issues with scurf and rain rot. His coat has really improved even in an Alabama august. Very happy! Also I got some for my golden retriever who had ear issues and hot spots and the powder and paste cleared both up. Very impressed
I use this on 2 horses with skin allergy irritations. It takes about 3 days before the itch subsides, and if i skip a day or two, they start scratching aggressively. But a little brushed in daily keeps all of us content.
