Directions
Daily Preventative Powder Precision Point
Using the precision point gently apply powder in folds, tight areas, or through the coat down to the skin. You can also use your hand or grooming brush, to work the powder down to the skin.
Reapply daily to dissipate odor or prevent skin issues caused by pests that find your dog a perfect petri dish to inhabit.
If using as a remedy, leave on continuously, applying more as needed until completely healed.
Apply more often to areas prone to holding moisture like between paws, under legs, around genitals, in folds/wrinkles, and ears.
Ears: Gently flip the ear back to expose the affected area. Using your finger or a makeup brush, apply powder to fully cover the irritated skin. DO NOT squirt directly down ear canal.
NOTICE- PLEASE STOP AND READ BEFORE USING:
DO NOT squirt directly down ear canal.
Discontinue use of medicated shampoos, topicals, wipes, or ear products (for use with ear) especially those containing SODIUM LAUREL SULFATE, CHLORAHEXIDINE, COAL TAR, and SALYCILIC ACID. If using medicated shampoos, topicals, or wipes with these ingredients, we recommend waiting 3-5 days from last use to apply our powder and patch test to be safe. The powder is non-toxic but too alkaline for chemically irritated skin and may cause a reaction.
Most commercially available shampoos have ingredients that dry out skin and impede healing. We recommend not using these.
Avoid using on areas of skin treated with topical flea medications including under flea collars. The pesticides in these products often irritate the skin; combining with powder may cause a reaction.
Some dogs with systemic yeast overgrowth may ooze after powder application. This is part of the normal healing process and will subside. Wipe the moisture and reapply fresh powder.
Sensitive Dog Shampoo
A little goes a long way!
You can use this shampoo directly out of the bottle, just start with a small amount and the lathering will be surprising.
Should you want to dilute before using, the following is what most of our dog customers are following:
Use 8 ounces to 32 ounces of water in spray bottle.8-ounce bottle will make 32 ounces of shampoo.
Enjoy and remember: The first ingredient is Aloe (not water) nature’s most nourishing and therapeutic ingredient for the skin and coat.
Something Better Balm
Dogs:

Sequence matters. Here's the routine that works and why it works in this order.
01
Use powder on troubled areas and leave it on continuously until cleared up; usually takes a few days to nip it in the bud.
02
Shampoo either before starting the powder elimination phase or after it's cleared. Our safe and soothing formula will not strip natural skin oils or protective skin microbes both essential for your pup's skin to stay well and break the cycle. Keep dog as dry as possible during powder elimination phase.
03
Use powder on prone areas as a final dry after bath, swimming and damp days to prevent it from returning.

Frequently Asked Questions
When using the powder to remedy yeast overgrowth/itch/stink/skin inflammation leave it on troubled areas constantly until cleared up. It usually takes a few days of continuous coverage to nip it in the bud. Once clear it is an effective preventative especially if used as a final dry on prone areas after bath, swimming and damp days. Yeast requires moisture so using the powder in this way will prevent it from returning. It is also a convenient dry shampoo for in between baths or grooms because it dissipates any doggy odor and keeps the skin funk away.
It is not uncommon for the skin to ooze or look red after powder application; your dog's brilliant immune system is using its detergent/ ooze to clean out the now dead yeast. Yeast is not just on the skin but in the skin and hair follicles, too. It is pushing the now dead yeast out in the same way our skin oozes to clean a wound or bug bite to remove pathogens or venom. It will not generate new healthy skin until the cleaning is complete. Wipe the moisture and apply fresh powder. It will subside when immune system clears it all out; it is part of the process of generating new healthy skin especially for dogs who have been struggling for awhile.
Medicated and chemical shampoos, topicals, wipes, etc. all contain ingredients that strip the skin leaving it raw and hypersensitive. You cannot always see this because it is at the skin level. Although our powder and paste are completely non toxic they are too alkaline for chemically irritated/stripped skin and may cause a reaction. Additionally, chemical products not only strip the bad microbes off the skin but also take the good microbes needed for skin wellness. The good guys keep the bad (like yeast) in check. When you take the good away the skin cannot restore balance which is why you do not see lasting relief from the medicated products. If your dog has a flea collar just avoid area where it is in contact with the skin.
It is a remedy not a cure. Yeast overgrowth and hotspots are caused by a skin micro biome that is out of balance; when there aren't enough protective microbes on the skin to keep the pathogens in check; they overgrow unimpeded which causes itch, stink, skin inflammation and hairloss. The powder changes the terrain on the skin making it uninhabitable for yeast and once they can't survive or reproduce the symptoms of itch, skin inflammation and stink go away with it...it is doing the job of the friendly beneficial microbes that are deficient. If not used as a preventative; especially as a final dry on prone areas anytime your pup is damp after bathing, swimming and on damp days the yeast will reproduce rapidly and the symptoms will return. Until the skin micro biome is back intact this has been a wonderful solution that has given dogs relief...many have been suffering for many years and we are delighted that we have been able to keep them comfortable in their own skin. Restoring the skin micro biome takes time...it is usually destroyed by chemical laden topicals...medicated shampoo, wipes and sprays being the worst...many medications cause systemic yeast overgrowth so if your dog has been on medications and the friendly bugs haven't been restored or you're using chemical laden skin topicals it will defeat any progress. In the meantime the powder is an effective way to keep your pup comfortable in their skin.
There is also a skin micro biome; the first layer of the immune system...like the gut when the good guys are destroyed the pathogens reproduce unimpeded and cause skin inflammation, itch and stink. This is caused by chemical laden topicals, shampoos, wipes and medications. Often times medications like anti biotics and immuno suppressants prescribed to millions of dogs result in systemic yeast overgrowth. We agree that nutrition is essential to whole body wellness. The powder eliminates pathogenic and parasitic overgrowth on the skin and gives fast and safe relief without toxic medications or topicals for dogs who may never get their beneficial microbes back intact or until they do. It is something that can safely be used while also healing the gut to keep them comfortable. We are big fans of whole body wellness.
First, you will want to stop using the medicated products before getting ours. Wait 3-5 days but honestly, if you have been using them a long time, a week would be better before doing a patch test. Pick an area on the skin to test the powder. It should be an area where you can tell if a reaction is occurring. Signs of a reaction would be swelling, severe redness, heat, or discomfort. It is not uncommon to see increased moisture as the body will ooze to push the pathogen (like yeast) from the skin. If a reaction occurs, stop using it and wait another week. Try again. The good news is skin is always regenerating so eventually, you will be able to use the powder. It just can take a few weeks or longer in some cases for the top layer of skin to become back intact from using the medicated products. In the meantime, our Sensitive Skin Dog Shampoo is a great option to keep the skin soothed while transitioning.
The powder is the remedy for yeast overgrowth, itch and stink. Leave it on troubled areas constantly until cleared up; usually takes a few days to nip it in the bud. This can be used first or after bathing with the shampoo which will clean and soothe skin before starting but we do not recommend bathing while in the elimination phase because yeast thrives in moisture so it is best to keep your pup as dry as possible during this period.
The shampoo is aloe based and free of harsh ingredients found in most others. It is soothing, moisturizing and healing. It will not compound existing skin troubles or cause new ones because it leaves the natural skin oils and protective skin microbes intact. Both required for the skin to be well. It is best to shampoo either before starting the powder elimination phase or after it's cleared up. Yeast thrives in moisture so it is best to keep your pup as dry as possible during the powder elimination phase.
The balm is soothing, moisturizing and healing for dry, rough areas anywhere on the skin but especially good for paw pads and noses. Many humans love it for their own dry skin conditions, too! It is best to use the balm, especially if eliminating yeast from the paws after it is cleared.
The shampoo is concentrated so we do recommend diluting it. The spray bottle is just the easiest way we have found for our customers to not only dilute it but also to apply it. You would mix the 8-ounce in the 32-ounce spray bottle with water. Wet your pup, apply the spray and gently work into a lather, then rinse your pup.You can leave the shampoo on for 5-7 minutes to take most advantage of the aloe. This is not a medicated shampoo, so you do not have to use it so many times a week for so many minutes. The powder is the remedy. You do not have to dilute it if that is easier for you. Just keep in mind a little goes a long way. If you choose this route you want to make sure you start with a dime sized amount and use more water when trying to lather your pup up.

My dog has been struggling with yeast infections for years and everything I tried never worked for him! But with coat defense everything changed! No more bad odors, less itching, less redness and his fur is growing back on the places his yeast was the worse at! I use the dog wash once a week, and the coat defense everyday after I feed him, and use the soothing balm every two days or before I take him on a walk. Coat defense with dogishuman vitamins chews changed my dog life for the better and I am so grateful. Just thinking about my dog getting better brings me to tears. Thank you so much coat defense!
This has been a great product so far. We've had it for 2 weeks and my dog(pit bull) has been itching less every day. His corn chip smell has gone away some. We haven't used the shampoo yet, but I only expect good things from these products. We continue to use the powder every day all over his body & brush it inside his ears to prevent yeast.
My Bulldog literally throws himself down so I can give him a dust bath. His bad smell went away. He's still on cytopoint while we are waiting for his food allergies to subside, but using this program, good probiotics, and working with a good vet, Buster went from being on the euthanasia list to a happy, itchy free life.
I love the shampoo. Not only does it smell good but my toy poodles’ coat comes out clean, fresh and soft.
The balm works like a charm. Kept his little paws moisturized.
The powder is great as well. I used a small amount between his claws where he constantly licks when his paws are wet. It help stopped him from licking.
Will be ordering again real soon!
I have 2 frenchies. One has really itchy Fritos smelling feet and the other has itchy cheeks. This stuff, from day one (I've only used the powder) has been nothing short of a miracle! They no longer itch, I use it on them every morning head to toe. Ive spent way to much money on pills, chews, shampoos....nothing worked. This stuff does. Period. I bought the refill pack of powder as well! If you're looking for something I'd definitely suggest you give this a shot!
my dog has had hot spots on his belly and very itchy. between baths 2x a week and a mouse from the vet and the powder to keep it dry inbetween. my dog is doing so much better!
I love how it helps with the foot and toes and discreetly hides the corn chip smell. My dog’s feet are looking better and smelling better. Healing starts with first application.
We have been using Coat Defense for about 3 weeks now and I can say that Kooper's "Frito" smell is much less, and the scratching/itchiness has improved! However, I have not felt confident enough to stop with the Apoquel because he's still itching. I have given him a bath with the shampoo twice and try to apply the powder almost everyday. I apply to his ears, paws and belly. Definitely have seen improvement and hoping with continued use it will get better.
The powder and the shampoo are phenomenal... however we dont care for the balm it smells like a chemical and does not help his dry nose.I have a old English bulldog, and this really helps him especially in the summer time. Thank you guys.. good stuff.
I will say the shampoo doesn't take much to lather as it claims. I have a white american bully so not only her breed in general but being white makes skin allergies and yeast 10 times worse. And I must add she loves water so she plays in her sprinkler EVERYDAY. I put the powder on her once a day. Now yeast issues r gone. And she smells amazing everyday which is amazing bc she only gets a bath once every 4 to 6 weeks however I believe ill b able to go longer now. The paw pad balm lives up to its claims. Lucky, I have not need the healing balm so I cant give a review. I order these products less than 30 days ago and they have lived up to every claim. They are worth the money. I also use the products on my other dog -an american pitbull!.
This stuff is a miracle healer ! This is my second time ordering the powder ....I order the refill bag and the hot spot cream ....bc I got shampoo....and container....My four years old Rottie stand and let me powder her down like a new born baby for bed ...She knows it works ! When I would go to linen closet and get spray bottle 🍾 she would run swiftly in her kennel and give me the Rottie Growl ... Now , she gladly put out her 👅 and let me me powder her down..& like shake and want the head , too ..I just got the bag in and she sleeping 😴😴 good tonight... Thank you
Because of my dogs fur, it’s hard to get it to his skin. Also his muzzle itches him and when I put the powder or ointment on, he starts to lick it off.
I love it! I have been using the powder for a while. But this is the first time getting the bundle. I have tried other balms before. But the Coat Defense Balm is the best!! It makes her noses and paws feel so soft and smooth. I will continue to buy.
I didn’t know if my baby needed this product, but laying in the backyard all day had her belly Red! Started using the powder and her belly isn’t as red and she Enjoys the daily rubs she gets!! Thank you 🙏🏾
