Directions
Using your hand or a gentle grooming brush, work powder down to the skin.
Reapply daily to dissipate odor or prevent skin issues caused by pests that find your dog a perfect petri dish to inhabit.
If using as a remedy, leave on continuously, applying more as needed until completely healed.
Apply more often to areas prone to holding moisture like between paws, under legs, around genitals, and ears.
Ears: Gently flip the ear back to expose the affected area. Using your finger or a makeup brush, apply powder to fully cover the irritated skin. DO NOT squirt directly down ear canal.
NOTICE- PLEASE STOP AND READ BEFORE USING:
DO NOT squirt directly down ear canal.
Discontinue use of medicated shampoos, topicals, wipes, or ear products (for use with ear) especially those containing SODIUM LAUREL SULFATE, CHLORAHEXIDINE, COAL TAR, and SALYCILIC ACID. If using medicated shampoos, topicals, or wipes with these ingredients, we recommend waiting 3-5 days from last use to apply our powder and patch test to be safe. The powder is non-toxic but too alkaline for chemically irritated skin and may cause a reaction.
Most commercially available shampoos have ingredients that dry out skin and impede healing. We recommend not using these.
Avoid using on areas of skin treated with topical flea medications including under flea collars. The pesticides in these products often irritate the skin; combining with powder may cause a reaction.
Some dogs with systemic yeast overgrowth may ooze after powder application. This is part of the normal healing process and will subside. Wipe the moisture and reapply fresh powder.
Many pets find relief within 1-3 days. For those on antibiotics and or steroids, or have otherwise been immune compromised, results and healing may take 1-2 weeks.
It is not uncommon to see increased moisture from the skin when first starting. Oftentimes, yeast is not only on the skin but in the skin. The body's natural detergent is to ooze and push the pathogen from the skin/hair follicle. The powder speeds this process up due to the bentonite clay's drawing and drying ability. Wipe any moisture away and continue to apply the powder. If it gets too "gunky" to wipe away, you can use a wet cloth. Just make sure to follow-up with the powder after as a final dry and continue to use until cleared.
A daily powder that helps fight odor, moisture, and yeast-prone skin.

Frequently Asked Questions
When using the powder to remedy yeast overgrowth/itch/stink/skin inflammation leave it on troubled areas constantly until cleared up. It usually takes a few days of continuous coverage to nip it in the bud. Once clear it is an effective preventative especially if used as a final dry on prone areas after bath, swimming and damp days. Yeast requires moisture so using the powder in this way will prevent it from returning. It is also a convenient dry shampoo for in between baths or grooms because it dissipates any doggy odor and keeps the skin funk away.
It is not uncommon for the skin to ooze or look red after powder application; your dog's brilliant immune system is using its detergent/ ooze to clean out the now dead yeast. Yeast is not just on the skin but in the skin and hair follicles, too. It is pushing the now dead yeast out in the same way our skin oozes to clean a wound or bug bite to remove pathogens or venom. It will not generate new healthy skin until the cleaning is complete. Wipe the moisture and apply fresh powder. It will subside when immune system clears it all out; it is part of the process of generating new healthy skin especially for dogs who have been struggling for awhile.
Medicated and chemical shampoos, topicals, wipes, etc. all contain ingredients that strip the skin leaving it raw and hypersensitive. You cannot always see this because it is at the skin level. Although our powder and paste are completely non toxic they are too alkaline for chemically irritated/stripped skin and may cause a reaction. Additionally, chemical products not only strip the bad microbes off the skin but also take the good microbes needed for skin wellness. The good guys keep the bad (like yeast) in check. When you take the good away the skin cannot restore balance which is why you do not see lasting relief from the medicated products. If your dog has a flea collar just avoid area where it is in contact with the skin.
It is a remedy not a cure. Yeast overgrowth and hotspots are caused by a skin micro biome that is out of balance; when there aren't enough protective microbes on the skin to keep the pathogens in check; they overgrow unimpeded which causes itch, stink, skin inflammation and hairloss. The powder changes the terrain on the skin making it uninhabitable for yeast and once they can't survive or reproduce the symptoms of itch, skin inflammation and stink go away with it...it is doing the job of the friendly beneficial microbes that are deficient. If not used as a preventative; especially as a final dry on prone areas anytime your pup is damp after bathing, swimming and on damp days the yeast will reproduce rapidly and the symptoms will return. Until the skin micro biome is back intact this has been a wonderful solution that has given dogs relief...many have been suffering for many years and we are delighted that we have been able to keep them comfortable in their own skin. Restoring the skin micro biome takes time...it is usually destroyed by chemical laden topicals...medicated shampoo, wipes and sprays being the worst...many medications cause systemic yeast overgrowth so if your dog has been on medications and the friendly bugs haven't been restored or you're using chemical laden skin topicals it will defeat any progress. In the meantime the powder is an effective way to keep your pup comfortable in their skin.
There is also a skin micro biome; the first layer of the immune system...like the gut when the good guys are destroyed the pathogens reproduce unimpeded and cause skin inflammation, itch and stink. This is caused by chemical laden topicals, shampoos, wipes and medications. Often times medications like anti biotics and immuno suppressants prescribed to millions of dogs result in systemic yeast overgrowth. We agree that nutrition is essential to whole body wellness. The powder eliminates pathogenic and parasitic overgrowth on the skin and gives fast and safe relief without toxic medications or topicals for dogs who may never get their beneficial microbes back intact or until they do. It is something that can safely be used while also healing the gut to keep them comfortable. We are big fans of whole body wellness.
First, you will want to stop using the medicated products before getting ours. Wait 3-5 days but honestly, if you have been using them a long time, a week would be better before doing a patch test. Pick an area on the skin to test the powder. It should be an area where you can tell if a reaction is occurring. Signs of a reaction would be swelling, severe redness, heat, or discomfort. It is not uncommon to see increased moisture as the body will ooze to push the pathogen (like yeast) from the skin. If a reaction occurs, stop using it and wait another week. Try again. The good news is skin is always regenerating so eventually, you will be able to use the powder. It just can take a few weeks or longer in some cases for the top layer of skin to become back intact from using the medicated products. In the meantime, our Sensitive Skin Dog Shampoo is a great option to keep the skin soothed while transitioning.

My boys suffer environmental allergies in spring and summer. They loose the hair on their feet but with Coat Defense Powder, they no longer get infected from the licking. After our walk , I wash their feet followed by an application of Coat Defense. I use an old blush brush to apply. I know it works to soothe because they don’t constantly lick their feet due to the itch.
Our mini labradoodle is finally happy! No more tears and constant itching from yeast infections. This powder has saved us hundreds of dollars in veterinary bills. I would recommend using it for any animal that has scratching and itching issues. Thanks so very much for making this product.
We love your products. They really work on our yeasty rescued hound dog. (And Florida is extra moist!)
I have tried so many things that did not work and now she actually looks forward to her nightly "powder time".
We can't say enough about the powder and drying products in particular. She no longer smells like a Billy Goat.
Thank you for making products that do what you say they will! We are customers for life!
I tried everything for my French Bulldog’s skin issues, and nothing seemed to work. I used medicated shampoos, medicated wipes, allergy medications, and spent so much money on vet visits, but she still struggled with constant itching and irritated skin. I decided to try Coat Defense after seeing ads for it, and it honestly made a huge difference for her. She scratches much less now, her skin looks healthier, and she seems so much more comfortable overall. I use Coat Defense alongside Coat Defense shampoo, and the combination has worked incredibly well for us. If you have a French Bulldog or English Bulldog struggling with skin issues, I definitely recommend giving this product a try!
I’ve tried everything to make my Oy comfortable. I can hear him at night scratching. I rub him down with his powder and it always both of us a good night sleep. Thank you
I don’t have a photo to add. I was just using this, and unfortunately, the wax in my dogs ears did not get any better. She has an infection in her ear so I won’t continue to use it. The combination of the wax and the powder, made things worse, unfortunately. I would love to return this if I’m able. Thanks in advance for your consideration. Sonja Day
We continue to use this product because it works! We use it alongside our veterinarian's recommendations, and it's been a great addition to her routine. Since she's prone to yeast issues and has environmental allergies, we use it as a preventative measure and for extra support. It's been a helpful part of keeping her healthy, and we're very happy with the results.
Oreo has persistent ear problems. But Coat Defense has cleared that all up in 4 days. No scratching and no head shaking. My baby is so happy and so am I!!! Thank you so much!!!
Harley and I have used Coat Defense since last summer. Powder and Shampoo have been Excellent. No shots, pills or Vet bills.
Thank you Coat Defense Team!
Good stuff but hard to get all over the dog, inside back legs etc. It is good stuff tho. Great for my 13 week old puppy who can't have strong bug repellent. She can lay outside, no worries about bugs.
I wish I could figure out how to attach some pictures but I am thrilled with the results I am getting by putting this powder on both of my dogs! Lily has been struggling with a weird rash with scabs and bright red on her tummy. She has been through two courses of strong antibiotics, which initially cleared it up but came back both times. I have been faithfully putting the Coat Defense preventive powder on her 2 or 3 times a day and it is looking so much better!! I can see some of the hair growing back and it is clearing up!! I did not want her to go on antibiotics again because it is messing with her immune system! My other dog has allergies really bad and I would love to get him off Apoquel!! The powder is helping also with his itching! I'll try to update with some pictures when I can figure it out!!

Hi Colleen, we are so thrilled to know your sweet babies have found relief with the powder. Please feel free to send us pictures 571-577-6435 we would love to see! Thank you so much for taking the time to review the products. We appreciate you so much!
Like so many people, I tried everything from sprays to Apoquil. Nothing worked until I found Coat Defense. I could never get rid of the Frito smell. I didn’t realize the smell was overgrown yeast. After using Coat Defense the corn chip smell is gone.
My dog has the worse allergy symptoms with scratching, losing fur, bleeding ECT... The coat defense helps ease it up and gets me through the winters , unfortunately I still have to go to the vet for something come June. When I put the coat defense powder on him it seems to soothe him and he just lays back and enjoys it unlike any of the sprays . I will definitely order more.
I've ordered several remedies for my pup from joint pain to itch relief. This product is the only one that has actually delivered on curing the intended issue. Clear, itch free ears after 3 days.
Every time my dog would come in from going out in the grass he would start chewing on his paws I've been putting the coat defense on his paws for the past week and now I no longer hear him chewing on them and all the redness is going away. I use Coat Defense for my horses, so I thought I'd try the dog powder and see how it worked. So pleased, wish I would have tried it sooner!
So far, as the days get warmer, we have avoided having to start Apoquel. Coat Defense is doing its job on the hairless folds of skin on my lab's belly, under her "arms," and ear flaps. I love applying it twice daily, and she enjoys the process too. I do NOT want to use Apoquel!
Sparky seems to enjoy getting brushed with Coat Defense. He actually will stand still when applying it to his tummy and paws. This stuff works great 👍👍
This powder is a very good product. Unfortunately, our dog’s paws needed antibiotics. The good thing was, she did not lick her paws once the powder was on them. She did get itch relief. We will continue to use the powder after they get healed up.
I was skeptical at first, but this stuff is helping my yeasty smelly bulldog. He is also scratching less and seems to smell better too! We also put it on a hotspot and it went away in 2 days. Great powder!!
We've come a long way with our pit mix, Runa. She had a rough 1st year with skin issues. Lots of kicking and scratching. We been using your products for almost a year now and it's a night and day difference. She more comfortable and we're not stressing so much. You have a great product and we are happy loyal customers!! ✌️💚🙂
My three dogs get yeasty paws from time to time. It's not always all the paws, and not always all the dogs (3). Now that I am using Coat Defense powder, I catch it early and apply for several days- to a week, and happily, the yeast doesn't take hold.
I love this powder and my dog is doing great with the yeast in his ears. This product is amazing. Im so glad I took a chance because it has done wonders for my sweet baby . Thank you so much for making this product. Kathy G.
