How Coat Defense products do double duty to solve itchy issues on your horse

COAT DEFENSE Sensitive Skin Horse Shampoo Concentrate:

Our shampoo is  moisturizing and soothing for aggravated skin (both from  chemical topicals and environmental reactions).  Horse owners appreciate it because it keeps their horse's skin intact preventing future troubles.   It does not have ingredients found in most that exacerbate struggling skin by stripping the essential and protective micro biome and natural oils that keep the skin supple and the coat soft and shiny. It soothes and moisturizes and can be used as often as you like without worry.  Aloe is the first ingredient; a therapeutic miracle for skin and coat. It suds up just like conventional shampoos but the bubbles do not come from the  Sodium Laurel Sulfate (a detergent and skin drying chemical surfactant) but comes from naturally saponified coconut and olive oil. It's free of the fragrance chemicals found in almost all other shampoos. Fragrance on a label is an umbrella term for thousands of chemical mixtures and are derived from petroleum. They are  known  skin allergens, carcinogens and hormone disruptors –  cocktails  that are in shampoos and marketed as good for your horse.  The scent is a fresh citrus, as it comes from natural tangerine oil. It’s concentrated, so a little goes a long way. The 8 ounce bottle makes 32 ounces. Use a capful or two in a bucket, dilute in a spray bottle, or use full-strength (just add more water to produce suds.) After lathering up, you can get the most out of the Aloe by leaving it on for 5-7 minutes before rinsing. Rinse clean and let dry.

COAT DEFENSE Daily Preventative Powder:

Depending on the type of sweet itch your horse suffers with; this helps in several ways. If your pony is reacting systemically to saliva from fly or no-see-um bites, the ingredients (particularly bentonite clay) on the surface of the skin will absorb some of the saliva (but won’t stop the bite). We’ve seen dramatic reduction in welt size on horses with localized reactions when using the powder on a regular basis, which is why we have created a larger refill size. The ingredients also reduce the sensation of itch and calm skin. Many of our friends save both mane and tails from becoming bald when applying down to the skin. Amongst many other things, the powder is effective at dehydrating microorganisms like bacterial, fungal spores, and even fleas and mites that thrive under thick hair.

COAT DEFENSE Trouble Spot Drying Paste:

This is the “Big Gun” for itch. This was developed for scratches and wounds due to its drawing and drying capabilities. Starts out like grey peanut butter and turns into a hard shell (scab) that draws, dries and protects. It’s great for welts from bites and is so effective for itch we made a human version of it for acne, poison ivy, and itchy bug bites. Smear some on your arm and you’ll feel an instant chill. Horses that tear up their chests itching walk into this with a big sigh of relief. What many people do to get the paste down to the skin is dilute it with witch hazel to a consistency of dishwash detergent which is especially helpful in areas of high movement. This gets painted on pasterns, bellies, and chests that get bitten up in the summer. Relieves itch and becomes a shell to protect from additional bites.
