My friend has a horse who developed a summer sore in July, and we treated it with Ivermectin cream for three months with no improvement. It kept getting worse! It got to the point that the Ivermectin would no longer even stick to the wound. We use Coat Defense where I volunteer, and the adds kept popping up for me on Facebook... because algorithms (in this case, grace!)! I asked my friend if she'd be okay with trying it, and she was. I messaged Coat Defense to ask if it's safe to use near the mouth, and they said it would be fine... so a few days later, armed with the Sweet Itch Bundle, we declared war on the summer sore! Prior to the first application of Coat Defense, we could smell the horse long before we saw him. To say it was bad is an understatement. The night after the first application, my friend went out to the barn, and she said the odor was gone! Granted, so was the Coat Defense because hay makes a wonderful scaper, lol. We applied the Coat Defense powder first and let it be absorbed (applied as much as was needed) and then applied the paste. We did not pick any skin or scabs but did try to get out any hay or debris prior to application. A month later, and we are almost healed! My friend and I were both out of town for a week, and the sore grew while we were gone (no one was applying the paste regularly for us), so the we're attributing the healing to the Coat Defense (we started applying again today). Sorry/not sorry for the graphic picture, but if a picture is worth 1000 words... these are worth much more than what I've written here! (I was not paid for this review, and I would 100% recommend this product to anyone! I use the shampoo on me, lol, but will try it on the horses when I have a day to bathe them)
My older gelding gets terrible skin ick during the rainy summer months. This product (when applied regularly) really takes care of the problem. His hair grows back and he doesn't seem so itchy.
